Coklat punya hal

Aku tak minat sangat makan coklat, aku lebih suka dark chocolate berbanding milk chocolate. Coklat buatan mesia dulu-dulu penah jugak makan, tapi aku tak suka sebab manis sangat. Homemade chocolate yang popular sekarang pun aku tak tau rasanya camna. Coklat kat sini sedap jugak, tapi aku masih jarang makan coklat. Aku suka coklat berkacang. The melting moment...the crunchy sensation....coklat ni kena makan selow untuk menikmati rasanya kan.

Cadbury Heroes yang dibeli konon-konon nak bawak balik kampung, tapi tiket mahal la pulak. Jadinya, buat makan kat umah je la hehehehe

Dok makan coklat British je, dah lupa rasa Hershey camna. Dulu-dulu ada gak beli Hershey ngan Daim kat Langkawi, tapi berbulan-bulan dalam peti sejuk tak abih. Lepas tu dah malas nak beli. La ni depa tengah mintak gomen British selamatkan Cadbury daripada dibeli oleh Kraft Food dari Amerika. Cadbury adalah ikon British.

In one corner there is Cadbury, the British brand with a social conscience started by Quakers nearly 200 years ago. In the other is Kraft, the US company that turned processed cheese into a multimillion-dollar empire.

Cadbury is preparing for a big takeover battle after it rejected a surprise £10.2 billion proposal from the company, which produces of some of the world’s best-known snacks.

The outcome will determine the future of one of Britain’s best-loved brands, which started as a tea and coffee shop in Bull Street, Birmingham, and employs 7,000 people in Britain and 50,000 worldwide. Kraft is seeking to lure Cadbury investors with a mixture of cash and American-listed shares, valued at about a third more than Cadbury’s share price on Friday.

In return, famous brands — including Dairy Milk, Creme Egg, Flake, Cadbury’s Eclair and Trident chewing gum — would be taken on by Kraft, which already owns Philadelphia cheese, Oreo biscuits and Toblerone chocolate, to create a formidable food giant with $50 billion in revenues.

Irene Rosenfeld, the chairman and chief executive of Kraft, who admits on the company website that her childhood ambition was to be president of the United States, said that she wanted to create a “formidable global powerhouse of snacks, confectionery and quick meals”.

Kraft, the world’s second-biggest sweetmaker after Nestlé, has promised that it would protect Cadbury’s heritage. It also offered an unexpected reprieve for the 500 staff who work at the chocolate factory at Somerdale near Bristol, which Cadbury had earmarked for closure.

Antara semua coklat, aku suka beli Cadbury. Salah satu sebabnya dia memang tulis 'Suitable for vegetarian'. Kalau dulu-dulu coklat Nestle Quality Street takdak tulis, la ni baru ada tanda vegetarian tu. Baru la aku beli. Tapi kena la periksa lagi, satgi kot-kot sesuai untuk vegetarian tapi ada alkohol pulak kan. Kat sini kalau brand ternama takdak pengesahan sesuai tak sesuai untuk vegetarian maknanya memang diragui la. Macam kalau aiskrim Walls kat sini memang tak leh makan sebab ada kandungan gelatin.

Cadbury World kat Birmingham pun aku dah penah sampai. Kedai kat kampung Cadbury Bourneville tak jual alkohol, penah sekali Tesco nak buka Tesco Express dekat-dekat kawasan situ dan mendapat bantahan penduduk kampung. Sebabnya nanti Tesco ada jual alkohol sedangkan semua orang tau kampung tu memang tak dak alkohol, jadi walaupun sekadar dipinggiran kampung, depa tetap tak mau Tesco kat situ. Akhirnya Tesco terpaksa membatalkan hasrat nak meluaskan bisnes depa kat situ. See, people's power.
